PC woes, and Beer, and Bicycling

I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time setting up my MacBook… AGAIN. My hard disk quit working properly after my laptop fell off the table to the floor. Yes, it literally crashed. 😦 There’s a surprise. Anyway, the thing is so old (c. 2006) that I can’t install a new version of OSX, and I’ve been struggling with dual booting between the old version of OSX and Windows 7 for quite a while now. So I finally got it up and running as a Windows 7 only PC. Works great. I was thinking about gardening today (not doing any, just thinking about it) and decided to expand my wish list for plants for next spring. That got me thinking about Hops. That got me thinking about beer. I realized that it’s exactly 2 months until my birthday, and that’s a perfect interval to make some good beer. 🙂 My birthday would be the perfect time to have another Celebration of Beer party. So my plan is to brew some beer Monday after we get back from a visit to my mom’s house in Eugene this weekend. Should be a fun trip. The weather is supposed to be awesome this weekend. We’re taking our bikes and plan to ride some of the wonderful bike paths around Eugene. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Economic and Financial Collapse with Nicole Foss

Doom and gloom today. I’m not feeling it, just predicting it. It doesn’t make me happy that I believe the information contained in this podcast. It just makes sense from a strictly observational standpoint, that the country is going in this direction. It jibes with everything else I have observed about humanity for most of my life. Forewarned is forearmed. Listen and decide for yourself.

Writing

I keep finding examples of people who write their first story and immediately get it published. I know I could be a decent writer. I’m not saying it would be good, but certainly better than some of the stories I’ve found enjoyable. So here goes. I’m going to write and post it here for the world to see, or not. The more I write, the more I will have written. Just write.

Good Weekend

Had a great Saturday out on the pistol range with my wife, Judy. She out-shot me this time. She’s been shooting with me occasionally for a several years, but not very frequently. Lately however, she started showing more of an interest. She signed up for a shooting class later this month taught by a female instructor at the Evergreen Sportsmen’s Club. Her old pistol has sights that are really hard to see, so we got her a new pistol and it has much better sights. Also, I managed to break her old gun. (Argh)  After shooting her new pistol and doing really well, she asked to shoot my gun which is a bit more powerful and she couldn’t believe how easy it was. She used to dislike my XD-45, but she had a lot of fun this time.

Sunday I cleaned out part of our garage and moved our screen-printing press back into the garage, so we can do T-shirts in our garage again. We are part owners in a screen-printing company and normally we use a “Direct To Garment” printer to print the shirts. Recently we got an order for 100 shirts with only white ink, and we soon found that it takes a lot longer to print a single color using a direct to garment printer than it does with a standard screen press arrangement. So we decided to set up our old press again for orders that only use one or two colors. Check us out online at http://www.facebook.com/BelizeTees or at http://www.belizetees.net/. Our belizetees.net site currently sucks and will be changing as soon as I can get some development help. I’m also not impressed with the smallbusiness.yahoo.com store setup and configuration software. I’ll probably be changing our website hosting service.

We had a really fun and productive weekend. I hope you had a good weekend too.  🙂
