Rum and rum?

OK, so I poured myself a rum and coke, or two… Dinner time rolled around. We decided on spaghetti. I figured I would have another drink with dinner. It didn’t seem like a big deal at the time… Until I poured it. I poured rum in my glass. I threw a couple of ice cubes in the glass. I poured the coke in my glass. Then I noticed that the color of the beveridge in question was amber. Very amber. Not very dark at all… The drink looked suspiciously like pure rum. In fact, it was pure rum. What? Oh, crap. That’s a TALL glass of rum with a couple of ice cubes. After about two seconds of wistfully pondering a tall glass of rum, I opted for sanity and poured half of it into another glass to save for another day, and replaced the rum with the heretofore missing coke. Still a potent concoction, but one that is eminently more survivable. No more for me. After this one 😉

Oh the times, they are a changin’

I’m changing the look of my site today, since I am now enrolled in an online course titled “Getting Started With WordPress”. The course is through my library system and run by Gale Courses. There are a lot of free classes you can take. Check out your library system and see what they have to offer! In the mean-time, you will be noticing changes on my blog.

Alas, poor SuperFocus. I knew him, Horatio…

I put a lot of money in my Medical Spending account (known as Flexible Spending Account) this year because I knew that I needed to repair or replace my favorite glasses. They are called Superfocus, and you can adjust the focal point of the entire lens by sliding the tiny lever at the top of the bridge. Alas, they are no more. Now that I am fairly certain I won’t need the money for anything else, and finally feel free to spend the cash on glasses, I discover the company went out of business back in March, 2014! To quote Bill the Cat, “Ack!!!” I am sad. No, seriously, I feel like my dog got run over. I feel loss and sadness. It may seem trivial, but I really liked these glasses. I can’t say that about any other pair of glasses I have ever worn. It was really awesome to be able to see clearly at all distances without having to tilt my head and get neck strain, or take my glasses off so I could see the stairs clearly. How stupid. Now I have to figure out what to spend my medical money on before I lose it at the end of the year. There are no other glasses like these. Superfocus, come back!
